CAROTID DISEASE
When the carotid artery becomes blocked with plaque and cholesterol, a process known as arteriosclerosis, the risk of stroke is significantly increased. Treatments with blood thinners as well as surgical procedures may be necessary to reduce the risk of stroke.

Risk Factors Include:
Family history of Carotid Disease
Age
Smoking
Hypertension
High cholesterol
Diabetes

Common Symptoms:
Sudden transient loss of vision in one eye
Weakness or numbness on one side of the body or face
Difficulty with speech speech
